Running Accomplishments:

Won Park City Marathon (tiny field, slow course, no purse) and Utah Grand Slam in 2006

Marathon: 2:37:04 (St. George 2009)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Train for as solid a race in Boston 2011 as my schedule will allow.  Accept the fact that there isn't room in my life to train for a breakthrough performance and do the best I can under the circumstances.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Lose the all-or-nothing mentality and start using running as an outlet instead of an additional source of stress.

Personal:

I'm married with 4 kids (2 boys, 2 girls) and live in Salt Lake City, where I work as a real estate attorney.

Let me have men about me that are fat,
Sleek-headed men and such as sleep a-nights.
Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look,
He thinks too much; such men are dangerous.

"Julius Caesar," Act I, scene 2, 190-95

First post-WBR run to test out heel (after having heel pad torn off on final leg of relay). It was still a little tender, but not bad. Still have residual soreness in lower calves from the relay. No noticeable AT pain.

Sugarhouse loop. Felt hot and fatigued from 3 miles on. Heel still a little tender. Maybe I need to back off on the sweets at work--they're too readily available and I find myself munching on Peanut M&Ms all afternoon.  If I remember how crappy I felt this morning when I reach for them it might help me to look away, baby, look away.

Ran up Emigration just past Camp Kostopoulos and back. Nasty headwind on

the way up. Nice even pace on the way back (between 6 and 6:20). Fair

amount of AT pain on the entire way up, which made me a little

nervous. Held back a little on the way down for fear of damaging the

new skin on my heel. Effort felt a million times better than yesterday. Didn't succomb to Peanut M&M temptation yesterday, so I'll attribute the better feeling to that.

Ran from Annie and Brian's to Nana's for swim party. 90+ degrees and humid. Easy pace but heat made it kind of miserable.

Easy loop past Sugarhouse to Stratford and 13th, then up to 20th and back. Left early enough to avoid heat and thoroughly enjoyed the run.

Drove out to Holladay to drop off car and ran home. Easy, relaxed pace. Noticed that I felt stronger on the hilly sections than I have lately.  Need to get some speed work in tomorrow.

Dropped off car in Holladay and ran home.  Janey has been sick the past couple of nights and hasn't been sleeping well, so neither have I.  I think that may have played into a general feeling of fatigue/malaise on the run.  AT still giving some pain, particularly in the early mile or so of each run.

Easy 9 at Bear Lake. Went north from the cabin to the north shore and back. Nice rolling hills to mix things up. Should have left earlier, as it was getting pretty hot by the time I finished.

Quick 4 before work. Started riding in yesterday and enjoyed it.  I'm experimenting with a few things right now, trying to figure out what mode of transportation will be the best in terms of cost, efficiency, and hassle.
