Running Accomplishments:

Won Park City Marathon (tiny field, slow course, no purse) and Utah Grand Slam in 2006

Marathon: 2:37:04 (St. George 2009)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Train for as solid a race in Boston 2011 as my schedule will allow.  Accept the fact that there isn't room in my life to train for a breakthrough performance and do the best I can under the circumstances.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Lose the all-or-nothing mentality and start using running as an outlet instead of an additional source of stress.

Personal:

I'm married with 4 kids (2 boys, 2 girls) and live in Salt Lake City, where I work as a real estate attorney.

Let me have men about me that are fat,
Sleek-headed men and such as sleep a-nights.
Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look,
He thinks too much; such men are dangerous.

Missed the morning run, so I ran to my parents' house after dropping my car off for repairs.  I bought two pairs of DS Trainers last week in hopes of gradually going to less shoe.  The brand-new shoes felt amazing.

Ran first 2 with Brooke, then headed out on my own for the remainder (across U campus, across Olympic bridge, and back down through Research Park).  Loving the new shoes.

Couldn't find my inhaler this morning and I felt it just a bit.  Took Maja out to Sugarhouse and came back up 17th East, then over to 16th and back home through the neighborhood.  Calves were a little sore, possibly from the new shoes, so I switched it up and wore one of the Kayano pairs.

Left at 5:30 and headed out to first bridge crossing I-80 and back.  Warm enough for shorts and no hat or gloves.  I need to figure out how to get back into this early routine--it was great to be out before the traffic.

I think I'm getting fat.  Today's jaunt in the hills (across U campus, up to Popperton, up to Shoreline, back through Research Park) felt like a death march.  Time to start backing off the calories, upping the mileage, or (preferably) both.  I think I'm about 15 lbs above my fighting weight from SG '09 (which was admittedly pretty low--my wife started referring to me as her "manorexic"), and I should probably get back under 160 by about mid-February if I want to be ready for final speed tuning before Boston.  Stupid Peanut M&Ms in the office breakroom.

Missed my run this morning, so I brought my gear and ran home from the downtown office.  Other than hitting just about every light red the whole way home, it was a nice little jaunt.

The magic of leaving my car at work was that it forced me out of bed at 5:30 to run back and retrieve it.  Instead of taking the straightforward route, I went across the U campus and up to 11th Ave, then down to the mouth of City Creek, through Memory Grove, and down State to my parking spot.  I took Maja with me and had a great time.

I hope I don't need this little tidbit later, but on both last night's and this morning's runs, I felt some mild pain in my right arch.  I'm praying it's not PF.
